Two Texts, One Dead Woman

Scroll

Spoiler for Verity.

At the end of Verity, the film based on Colleen Hoover's novel, Lowen finds a hidden letter in which Verity writes that her gruesome manuscript was just "antagonistic journaling", a writing exercise in which she imagined herself as the villain. By then Jeremy has already killed her because of that manuscript, and Lowen has helped him make it look like an accident. I find that really interesting: there are two texts by the same woman, both sound believable, and the film never says which one is true. In the book Lowen destroys the letter, in the film it is still in her pocket at the end. I want to try writing a book like that myself, just for fun, maybe as a serial story I keep adding a few sentences to.
